The Vendor's Solicitor

As seen earlier ANDREW F.SMYTH claimed to be acting on behalf of A.l.F. when he was not in fact doing so. Clearly this means Mr. Smyth knew the building was to be set on fire. He also lied about the insurance. 27/2/1991. Mr. Smyth sends a letter to Thomas Jackson (a senior partner in Orpen Franks) asking him to "go easy" on Mr. Mulligan. It is marked "Private and Personal". The fact that this clearly improper request was put in writing indicates that it was intended to influence more than Mr. Jackson. As a direct result of this letter a file was passed to Edel Hargaden to deal with and it was sent for Arbitration - a completely unsuitable course.

Needless to say this letter is now missing from the file.
